Join UnityPoint Health-Trinity through our Career Pathways Program and start your journey to becoming an Ultrasound Sonographer-all while gaining hands-on experience as an Ultrasound Sonographer Trainee.

As a Sonographer Trainee, you'll work alongside experienced professionals while completing your education to become a certified Ultrasound Sonographer. After successfully completing the program, you will be able to perform professional duties in the application of ultrasonography services, demonstrating proficiency in all ultrasound examinations and related patient care procedures.

• Correctly performs all prescribed Ultrasound procedures in an efficient manner
• Works independently and critiques exams

• Competent in the storage and transferring of images
• Responsible for regular rotation of on-call responsibilities.

• Clinical, patient-facing experience preferred.

Successful completion of prerequisite coursework through Washburn University or transfer-equivalent credits.
Only one course is required in each category:

• Communication
  Examples: English, Composition, Speech

• Mathematics
  Examples: Intermediate Algebra, Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry

• Physics
  Examples: General Physics (lab not required) or Radiographic Physics (for students in or graduated from a Radiologic Technology program)

• Medical Terminology

• Human Anatomy*

• Human Physiology*

* Anatomy and Physiology may be taken as a combined course if it is 5 credit hours or more.

These prerequisites are not required to apply, but must be completed before the Summer 2026 semester to prepare for the cohort beginning Fall 2026.

• Acceptance into the Washburn University Sonography Program
  (Not required at the time of job application, but required before program start.)
