In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Administrative Engineer, or must have taken, passed, and be reachable on the Promotional Administrative Engineer Exam #5564.

The Division of Traffic Operations seeks to hire an Administrative Engineer M3 to serve as Director of Systems Engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to directly manage the Systems Engineering Unit, which consists of professional and technical staff, as well as consultants, who engage in overseeing the execution of capital construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation projects, and operate motor vehicles to visit various job sites as required. The decisions made by the Director of Systems Engineering will have an impact on the City's capital budget and capital construction.

The successful candidate will manage and oversee the administration of the Systems Engineering Unit, which includes the daily planning, coordination, and execution of various ITS construction projects, including the Manhattan in Motion (MIM) project. This project will expand the coverage area of the agency's MIM project and establish Lower Manhattan in Motion. The candidate will support the ITS project management, construction, and data analysis for citywide deployment. This work reflects on the public safety in the City, where millions of motorists travel on a daily basis, and includes pedestrian safety, which is part of the Vision Zero initiatives. The successful candidate will be tasked with managing capital construction projects, deployment, ITS data analysis, integration, design, and security. Additionally, this also includes managing the implementation of future ITS projects, federal grants, and Vision Zero initiatives of changing signal plans based on congestion conditions.

Some assignments may require a driver's license. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of the appointment in this position.

This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

ADMINISTRATIVE ENGINEER - 10015

Minimum Qualifications

1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.

Preferred Skills

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 10 years of experience in ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) project management of multimillion-dollar capital budget.
-5 years of supervisory experience.
-Experience writing technical proposals, contract specifications, and other executive reports.
-PMP license
