Compensation: $39.70 - $39.70/hr

Tessera is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic. The Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnoses mechanical issues by examining vehicles, utilizing diagnostic equipment, and testing vehicle systems.

  • Determines the extent of repairs needed based on the diagnosis and communicate findings to customers.

  • Replaces worn or broken parts, such as piston rings, bearings, and other engine components, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

  • Grind sand adjusts valves to meet specifications and optimal performance.

  • Rebuilds carburetors, ensuring proper fuel-air mixing for engine efficiency.

  • Overhauls transmissions to improve vehicle performance and reliability.

  • Repairs and maintains fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems to ensure safe and efficient vehicle operation.

  • Performs routine maintenance services, including oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.

  • Keeps accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each vehicle.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 3-5 years of experience in the Automotive Maintenance Industry

  • Driver's license required; CDL preferred

  • Strong understanding of engine mechanics, systems, and automotive technology.

  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools effectively and safely.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, and manuals.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
