We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team. This full-time position requires a 3x12 hour work week with day/night rotation, every other weekend, and holiday shifts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to ensure the personal needs and comfort of patients in a dignified and healing environment.


Responsibilities

  • Perform vital signs and activities of daily living as outlined in the plan of care, including ADLs.
  • Assist with hourly rounding and document care rendered per guidelines.
  • Meet patients' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform meal delivery, set up trays and adaptive equipment, assist with feeding, and distribute nourishments while honoring patient choices.
  • Maintain patient comfort and safety as outlined in the care plan and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Turn and position patients, provide skin care, and respond immediately to call lights/alarms.
  • Ensure rehabilitation needs are met as outlined in the care plan, including ROM, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
  • Identify changes in patient physical and emotional status and report changes promptly to the nurse.
  • Participate appropriately in shift changeover communication, providing complete and relevant information about patients cared for.


Qualifications

  • BLS certification required through AHA/RQI.
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent education with post-secondary education in Health or Human Services.
  • 1-2 years of customer service and/or health-related experience in Med/Surg/ED/ICU.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and a customer service/patient-centered focus.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare and/or nursing assistant role.


Additional Information

The candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. This includes understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status to identify their age-specific needs. Care is provided to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient groups.

Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
