About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Technical Writer to join us. The Documentation Specialist (Journeyman) supports the development, maintenance, and management of technical and operational documentation across the DISA J6 IT Services Program. This role ensures that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with DoD standards, supporting knowledge management, process improvement, and audit readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Develop, edit, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), user guides, training materials, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and program managers to gather and validate content.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with DoD formatting, accessibility (Section 508), and security classification guidelines.
  • Maintain version control and document repositories (e.g., SharePoint, ServiceNow Knowledge Base).
  • Support the creation of deliverables such as reports, briefings, and status updates.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Track and update documentation in response to changes in systems, processes, or policies.
  • Provide support for knowledge management initiatives, including tagging and indexing content for searchability.
  • Respond to documentation requests from internal teams and government stakeholders.


Qualifications

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret (TS/SCI preferred)
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or knowledge management in a DoD or IT environment.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, PMBOK, or CMMI frameworks (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to translate technical information into clear, user-friendly content.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Certifications: ITIL Foundation or CompTIA certifications (preferred but not required).
