Seeking a highly motivated nurse practitioner to provide primary medical care to students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. Demonstrates a strong interest and background in teaching and training along with the ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive medical services to a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse population. Independently performs clinical job responsibilities with consultation available by a university contracted physician as needed.

Anticipated working hours include 7:45am-4:30pm Monday through Friday during the academic calendar with reduced hours during scheduled academic breaks and summer. Must commit to a flexible work schedule which might include some evening and/or weekend hours throughout the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned

  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems
  • Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates primary health care services as directed by individual care plans
  • Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations
  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them

Compensation:
  • Starting at $105,000 commensurate with experience

  • Pay is based off .85 FTE (actual pay based off FTE: $89,250)

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in nursing

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Wisconsin or Nurse Compact License

  • Current Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) license issued by the state of Wisconsin or obtained prior to start date

  • Current Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or obtained prior to start date

  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license issued by the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, or the ability to obtain within 1 month of start date

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification or the ability to obtain within 1 month of start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in ambulatory primary care, urgent care, women's health and/or with young adult populations.

  • Experience in providing care for mental health concerns of the young adult population.

  • Demonstrated ability to function well in a team-based environment.

  • Proficient with public speaking.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in a clinical setting. Ability to prioritize acuity level, adapt to a changing schedule and accommodate urgent concerns.

  • Ability to perform job duties independently, with minimal supervision.

  • Master's degree in nursing
