Purchasing is responsible for sourcing and procuring the materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for production. This role involves managing relationships with suppliers and ensuring timely delivery of goods. They collaborate closely with internal teams to align procurement activities with production schedules, monitor inventory levels, and implement cost-saving strategies. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies are essential functions of this role.

* Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to the master list and recommends alternatives.

* Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

* Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, while obtaining recommendations from suppliers.

* Secures purchase order approval from supervisor/manager when needed.

* Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers.

* Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.

* Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.

* Monitor order status to ensure timely delivery.

* Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock for jobs and orders.

* Coordinate with production to determine needs for specific jobs as they arise.

* Coordinate with scheduling to forecast upcoming needs in a timely matter.

* Ensure accurate transaction of inventory, both inbound and outbound.

* Complete periodic cycle counts.

* Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation.

* Other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements:


  • High School or GED required.
  • 1 year of purchasing experience preferred.
  • Basic skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • ERP experience preferred.
  • OSHA10 certified preferred.
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company's employee handbook policies and embodies the organization's core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
  • Standing and walking for long durations
  • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
  • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
  • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
