Temple University's College of Public Health is searching for a Research Assistant!

SALARY RANGE: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour

Position Summary:
Dr. Carolina Villamil Grest seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English) part-time research assistant (RA) to assist with research-related tasks and to support projects, including a community-engaged qualitative study about the impact of tuition equity policies on the mental health and wellbeing of immigrant students. Responsibilities will include coordination of all study-related activities, recruitment of study participants and organizing, transcribing, and handling interview and survey data. A hybrid working format may be possible for the position, and 15-20 hours per week will be required.

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, or health-related fields, and a minimum of six months of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Undergraduate research experience may also be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Prior experience with social/behavioral studies involving interview, survey, and observational data
*Prior experience with subject identification and recruiting hard-to-reach populations for study participation
*Prior experience with transcribing and de-identifying audio-recorded interviews
*Prior experience handling highly sensitive participant data
*Knowledge of mixed methods research design and procedures
*Data entry
*Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications (e.g. Excel, Teams)
*Familiarity with online data capture platforms (e.g. REDcap, Qualtrics)
*Proficiency with academically oriented internet search engines (e.g. PubMed)
*Proficiency with reference management and other academically oriented software (e.g. Zotero, EndNote)
*Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
*Must have strong written and oral communication skills
*Must have strong organizational skills
*Excellent time-management skills
*Detail-oriented, ability to function independently and to work well with teams
*Must be attentive to detail and adhere to deadlines
*Experience with social science research terminology
*Fluency in spoken, written and reading Spanish-language

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
*Experience with data collection, e.g. surveys, in-depth interviewing, semi-structured interviewing
*Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and relevant software
*Familiarity with people search engines and databases
*Experience with online training platforms
*Knowledge of immigrant health disparities

*Document editing and preparation
*Assisting with manuscripts for publication
*Administrative tasks
*Maintaining study files

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
