Overview

Manages bond production and underwriting activities within assigned territory. Oversees the acceptance, declination and rating of risks while meeting profitability goals. Establishes and develops agency relationships for new marketing opportunities in all bond product lines. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Markets bond business to agency force and establish and develop solid agency relationships.
  • Mediates issues between agents, insured's, and other departments.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.Evaluates new and renewal business submissions within delegated authority levels and, where appropriate, develops and presents underwriting recommendations on business that exceeds delegated authority to Regional Bond Manager.Ensures accurate and quality work while maintaining high production standards.Monitors territory's profitability and production goals and keeps abreast of current market conditions that affect business levels.Utilizes bond system automation and enhancements to improve efficiencies within assigned territory.Educates and assists AMS staff with bond production to produce cross-sell opportunities and new leverage points with agency plant.Work with RBM to assist in developing agency, territory and region goals.
  • Support strategic and tactical efforts to grow premium profitably.Prepare and lead client meetings and job site visits.
  • Produce meeting agendas and reports for eSurety account uploads and Regional Bond Manager review.Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory.
  • Car travel represents approximately 30% of employee's time and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of surety & fidelity underwriting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
  • College degree in financial-related area such as accounting, finance, business administration, or marketing preferred.
  • 3-5 years of bond underwriting experience or equivalent related work experience (including credit modeling, financial statement analysis, accounting, construction, etc.).
  • AU and/or CPCU encouraged.
  • AFSB preferred.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
