Overview
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Selective will not sponsor or assume the sponsorship of an employment visa at this time Note: (For NJ candidates) This role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until the new headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will be offered the ability to work in our Branchville, N.J. location during this interim period. The Business Analyst will be responsible for delivering software solutions and information systems to solve Billing business and customer needs. This role is a member of a scrum team that focuses on breaking features into stories after the Product Owners have broken the Epics down into features, so that technology teams can execute on them. This role will also work closely with the business on change management and product adoption plans, as well as assisting with testing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Owners to schedule and facilitate business requirements gathering sessions with business groups and conducting stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, backlog refinement sessions, etc., in order to document requirements, validate existing requirements and create new user stories. This also includes statutory requirements.
- Identifying and build relationships with all necessary stakeholders for various projects. This may include Product Owners, Product Managers, IT team, etc.
- Support developers and testers through the prioritization of user stories.
- Document and manage requirements documentation for different types of work (initiatives, enhancements, regulatory, support, break-fix, etc.) ensuring quality and completeness of all deliverables and obtaining necessary signoffs.
- Document system changes and conduct training on system changes.
- Initiate peer review discussions and incorporate feedback into requirement documents.
- Tracks tasks and accurately provides time estimates for tasks and requirement estimations. Participate in all AGILE ceremonies and activities, while also contributing to demos.
- Conduct requirements walkthrough with development and testing teams. Ensure clarification and understanding on all requirements and obtain sign-off.
- Review coverage of test conditions and prioritize test scenarios for QA team.
- Collaborate with technology teams to clarify requirements and support solution design, including understanding system workflows, data mapping, and basic concepts around APIs or integrations. Assist in documenting technical impacts and ensure alignment between business and system changes
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
- Superior organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in both Excel
- Experience in an Agile environment and knowledge of Agile methodology & frameworks
- Ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Strong interpersonal communication, presentation and facilitation skills
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to clearly express thoughts and ideas through documentation
- Understanding of integrations and data standards that develop quality documentation for data mapping & process flows
- Formal business analysis skills on project work is preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, probe facts, analyze issues and present alternative solutions.
- Ability to effectively manage a range of tasks and projects in an environment with changing priorities.
Education and Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a business analysis role,3+ years insurance line of business, systems analysis, agile team, or other IT expertise
- College degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
- Training or certifications in business analysis and project management preferred.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range
USD $79,000.00 - USD $109,000.00 /Yr.
