Opportunity Overview:

E&C Engineer/Project Engineer-Hydro - Contract 1 Year

Minneapolis, MN or Eau Claire, WI - 100% Onsite

Your Day-to-Day:

We are seeking two Project Engineers to join our client's Hydro Engineering team. These roles will support a portfolio of hydroelectric plant projects across 25 facilities (primarily in Wisconsin, one in Minnesota). Each engineer will manage approximately 10 projects annually, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution from design through closeout.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop bid and design specifications for hydro plant projects.
  • Coordinate all phases of project lifecycle: initiation, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with hydro plant management, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FERC, DNR, MPCA).
  • Manage schedules, budgets, and documentation using company systems and tools.


Work Environment



  • Join a collaborative team of 4 engineers (expanding to 6).
  • No direct reports; will oversee contractor activities.
  • Standard PPE and safety training required; potential exposure to working at heights and typical power plant safety protocols.


Who You Are:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Controls, or Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Hydro or industrial experience strongly preferred; hydro familiarity (6+ months) is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license.


  • FE/EIT certification; PE License a plus.
  • PMP certification or project management experience.
  • Experience with SAP (work management), scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project), and Bluebeam.
