Surgical Hospital: Ambulatory Infusion Center - Full-Time, Day Shift Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C-Ambulatory Infusion Center(AIC) utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct/indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced outpatient environment that cares for patients 18 years of age or older. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in treating complex conditions or diagnoses including but not limited to: neoplasm, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, post-transplant treatment and rejection (heart, kidney, liver), hyperemesis gravidarum, polycythemia vera, thalassemia, sarcoidosis, sickle cell anemia, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, volume depletion, mineral and electrolyte imbalance, sepsis, suspected or confirmed malignancies and hematologic disorders and therapeutic phlebotomy. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) independently and in accordance with LLUMC's established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support. Functions in a skills mix environment and effectively supervises and delegates tasks to a team of licensed and unlicensed staff in accordance with level of competency. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and patient population served. Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into bed-side practice to optimize patient outcomes. Fosters an environment that supports the utilization of nursing research and evidenced-based practice. Participates in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved research and supports the integration of research into practice. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to achieve and maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and readily embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Engages in opportunities to directly and/or indirectly influence decision-making for bedside clinical practice by supporting and/or participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
