Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Business Manager - Radiology.

The Business Manager of the Radiology Department is responsible for managing the operational, financial, and administrative functions that support high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. This role emphasizes optimizing scheduling, supply chain management, revenue cycle performance, resource utilization, equipment purchasing, and budget oversight to ensure the department meets both clinical and organizational objectives. The Business Manager acts as a key liaison between clinical leadership, hospital administration, and ancillary services, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, payer requirements, and regulatory standards, while fostering operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and ongoing process improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

Scheduling, Registration, Pre-Authorizations, and Workflow Optimization

  • Oversee daily, weekly, and long-term scheduling of procedures, balancing physician availability, staff/equipment resources, and patient demand.
    • Maintain operational expertise across all aspects of Radiology/IR scheduling and registration, with the ability to provide direct coverage when needed.
    • Maintains a detailed instructional manual for all aspects of scheduling, obtaining pre-authorization, and registration, and uses it to train new staff and support ongoing competency.
    • Monitors and addresses overall and individual performance using metrics, audits, and direct observations.
  • Implement strategies to maximize utilization of procedure rooms, equipment, and staff while minimizing patient delays and cancellations.
  • Partner with physician leadership to develop evidence-based scheduling templates that align with clinical priorities and operational benchmarks.
  • Monitor performance metrics to enhance efficiency and patient access.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management

  • Oversee supply chain operations, working with Clinical Supply Chain, including procurement, vendor relationships, consignment, new products, and inventory control.
  • Ensure timely availability of critical supplies, devices, implants, and disposables while reducing waste and controlling costs.
  • Partner with Clinical Supply Chain and Value Analysis teams to evaluate new products, negotiate contracts, and standardize supplies.
  • Track supply utilization and cost-per-case trends, developing initiatives that balance financial stewardship with clinical quality.

Revenue Cycle & Financial Performance

  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle teams to minimize denials, reduce late charges, and ensure appropriate documentation.
  • Oversee revenue capture processes, including charge entry, coding accuracy, and compliance with billing regulations.
  • Analyze payer trends and reimbursement patterns to identify opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Provide regular reporting on financial performance, charge capture, and revenue optimization opportunities.

Resource Utilization & Productivity

  • Monitors resource utilization to ensure accurate scheduling practices and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Assists with the evaluation of staffing models and productivity dashboards to guide workforce planning.
  • Implement best practices to ensure equitable and efficient distribution of work.
  • Leverage data analysis and dashboards to evaluate workflow trends, forecast staffing needs, and guide process improvement initiatives.

Budgeting & Strategic Planning

  • Assist department leadership in developing and managing the Radiology / IR departments annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Evaluates and, as needed, prepares justifications for capital equipment or staffing requests.
  • Provide variance analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to departmental and hospital leadership.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while supporting departmental growth and innovation.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and execute strategic business plans for program expansion and service-line growth.
  • Participate in business case development for new service lines, technology acquisition, and programmatic growth initiatives.
  • Conduct data-driven analyses of departmental costs, volumes, performance metrics, and reimbursement trends to inform budget development and strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations or business management; prior experience in Radiology or procedural services strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in scheduling, supply chain, revenue cycle, and budget management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data to drive decisions.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma or process improvement methodology.
  • Experience with regulatory/compliance requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with proven ability to partner effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and executives.
  • Proficiency in data tools (Excel, dashboards, EMR systems and financial reporting software).

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
