Position Summary

The UNM College of Fine
Arts, Office of the Dean is seeking to hire a work-study
employee to work primarily at the front desk.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages, & provides general information; greets & directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; maintains log of inquiries as required.
  • Provides occasional tours of CFA facilities for prospective students and engages with academic program faculty and staff.
  • Assist with special events in support of CFA including set-up, interacting with the public, and clean-up.
  • Opens & routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence & other material to department staff/faculty.
  • Copies and/or duplicates materials as requested; may oversee day-to-day operation of copy machine
  • Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records and/or other documents while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform specialized services of a routine clerical/administrative nature in strict accordance with established procedural guidelines, as appropriate to the position.
  • Stock and distribute office supplies.
  • Run various routine errands across campus, as required, for the unit/department.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

The successful candidate
must exhibit a professional demeanor, have appropriate office etiquette, be
organized and task-oriented, and must be responsible for completing assigned
tasks with accuracy while meeting deadlines.

Typical work hours will be Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00
PM (with some evening hours required). Must be able to work a minimum of 15 -
28 hours per week. Punctuality is a must.

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Word processing and data entry skills.
  • Experience in customer service including the ability to incorporate appropriate phone etiquette and maintain a positive demeanor.
  • Team player with the ability to also be resourceful and work effectively under limited supervision.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • May require minimum GPA.
  • Some light lifting.
