What to Expect

This position will work as a member of Tesla's reliability and test team to develop and execute component and system level testing of vehicle chassis and body structural components using servo hydraulic test equipment either in-house or at external labs.


What You'll Do
  • Conduct hands-on component and system level durability and strength tests using MTS servo hydraulic systems
  • Work directly with reliability and design engineers for test planning activities (test scheduling, prioritization, specifications etc. )
  • Develop test fixtures using CAD and work with in-house or external labs for fixture fabrication
  • Conduct detailed inspections such as torque checks, crack checks etc. Identify and root cause failures
  • Conduct data acquisition and instrumentation of sensors such as load cells, strain gages, LVDT etc.
  • Post process test data and make detailed test reports
  • Be involved with general test equipment maintenance and lab expansions
  • Work in close collaboration with test technicians, instrumentation, CAE, reliability and design teams
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years durability and strength testing of vehicle chassis and/or structural components (suspension, steering, body in white etc.)
  • Experience in MTS FlexTest controllers, MultiPurpose TestWare (MPT) and MTS TestSuite (mpe) software, experience with RPC a plus but not needed
  • Experience with instrumentation (load cells, strain gages, LVDT etc.) and data acquisition systems like HBM Somat eDAQ and Dewesoft
  • Experience with CAD and fixture design
  • Proven track record as a hands-on test engineer (test planning, development, execution, inspections, root cause analysis, data processing, report writing)
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail

    Expected Compensation
    $80,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
