Job Summary

The Student Services Specialist (Honors Program - Specially Funded) provides comprehensive administrative and program support for the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Honors Program. This role assists with event planning, student communications, scholarship tracking, and compliance reporting. The position supports faculty and students, facilitates logistics for orientations and activities, manages data systems, and helps ensure alignment with district and college policies.

Essential Functions

25% - Program Facilitation & Oversight
Facilitates and assists with planning and implementation of key Honors Program functions including orientations, contracts, student engagement, and compliance tracking; manages workflows with limited supervision.

20% - Student Support & Communication
Provides direct student support and advising regarding honors eligibility, scholarship requirements, and project completion; communicates independently with students, faculty, and district staff.

20% - Scholarship & Compliance Administration
Oversees President's and Honors Achievement scholarships, verifies eligibility, maintains databases, coordinates with Financial Aid for disbursement, and ensures compliance.

15% - Event & Outreach Management
Plans, budgets, and coordinates events such as orientations, luncheons, and co-curricular activities; collaborates with marketing and recruitment to enhance engagement.

10% - Budget & Data Management
Tracks and reconciles program budgets, processes FMS requisitions, compiles data for reports, and provides updates to the Honors Faculty Coordinator and Dean.

10% - Collaboration & Faculty Liaison Work
Works closely with the Honors Faculty Coordinator, instructors, and campus departments to facilitate honors contracts, projects, and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, customer service, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
2. Experience working in higher education or student programs
3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate events, manage budgets, and maintain data accuracy
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills
5. Experience with Maricopa systems (e.g., SIS, FMS, HCM, Canvas) and familiarity with ADA compliance and accessibility standards

Special Working Conditions

1. May require occasional evening or weekend work to support student events
2. Work primarily performed in an office environment at the CGCC Pecos Campus
3. Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup
4. Involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff both in-person and electronically
