Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is$124,960 - $165,572. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Staff Supplier Quality Engineer!

The Staff Supplier Quality Engineer is a subject matter expert responsible for driving supplier quality strategies across the organization. This role leads complex quality initiatives, influences supplier relationships, and ensures the highest standards are maintained throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Expertise: Act as a trusted advisor in supplier quality to the business, providing technical expertise and fostering continuous quality improvement.
  • Strategic Quality Initiatives: Lead high-impact quality improvement initiatives across multiple suppliers, driving process standardization and compliance.
  • Advanced Root Cause Analysis: Oversee complex defect investigations, ensuring sustainable corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure supplier processes comply with applicable standards and certifications, such as ISO 9001.
  • Quality Support & Collaboration: Provide high-level quality support for operations, working closely with Global Sourcing to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvements. Lead the resolution of complex quality issues, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures.
  • Metrics & Feedback Utilization: Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, driving data-driven decision-making across the company.
  • Mentorship & Team Support: Coach, mentor, and delegate work to other quality engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team.
  • Industry Trends & Innovation: Proactively monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company's approach to quality engineering.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field/ Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on supplier quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
  • Expert knowledge of supplier quality systems, including APQP, PPAP, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale supplier quality programs.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis tools used for quality analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of supplier qualification processes and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Great project management skills, able to successfully lead project teams through ambiguity and constantly changing business needs.
  • Sound organizational and multitasking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Sound attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the quality function in technical and non-technical roles and present compelling information to achieve buy-in.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), including excellent Excel skills and experience using Power BI.
  • Preferred: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification from ASQ
  • Preferred: Knowledge of metallic materials and metals processing, including finishing (plating, galvanizing, etc.)
  • Preferred: Green or Black Belt

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting : Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks.
  • Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus.
  • Manual Dexterity : Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate office productivity equipment.
  • Ascending / Descending : Occasionally ascending or descending stairs.
  • Observation/Eyesight: Occasionally required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Communication : Continuously required to talk and hear or otherwise effectively communicate, in person and by phone/conference calls.
  • Travel: Occasionally required to travel and work extended hours when necessary.
