The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention. The Surety Programs Group (SPG) supports government and private sector management of complex safety, security, and reliability programs for high consequence operations. SPG delivers industry-leading, innovative, and value-added services such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains. SPG is immediately hiring for a Systems Safety Engineer at SPA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities The Safety Engineer will support Navy SSP in providing vision, direction, and oversight of safety planning in support of Strategic Systems Programs' (SSP) Command Safety Program. They will act as primary liaison with other safety working groups supporting the program. They will report to top level systems engineering team concerning all SSP safety updates and issues and coordinate with the contractor government safety team to address safety hazards and environmental impacts, identifying and documenting all potential hazards, related mishaps, and associated risk information specific to SSP. The disciplines covered include discrepancy reporting, training and certification, documentation change control, configuration control, material review systems, corrective action systems, process proofing, and safety data analytics. In addition, the Engineer will identify safety areas of responsibility pertinent to support the weapon system. Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to): nuclear weapons surety, weapons systems safety, explosive safety, environmental and asset safety, transportation and logistics safety, fire prevention, lightning protection and grounding, as well as Occupational Safety and Health, and hazardous material (HAZMAT) safety.
