This hybrid role as both a Manufacturing Engineer and Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for optimizing production processes by analyzing current methods, designing and implementing improvements to equipment and workflows, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. Additionally, this role will also have additional focus on ensuring that the organization's products and services follow the company's quality requirements, in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and reliability supporting our transformer remanufacturing facilities.



  • Innovation and cost reduction initiatives beyond the committed reductions via productivity and efficiency gains
    • Process design and optimization of throughput & quality
    • Apply and train VSM, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S skills to effectively map the manufacturing processes to identify and implement process improvement opportunities and developing/documenting factory capacity and bottleneck analyses. Develop capacity improvement plans for inclusion into CI or capital planning.

  • Lead factory initiatives around safety, quality, continuous improvement (CI), lean manufacturing, mistake proofing, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead cultural change to a lean philosophy through communication of vision and expectations.
  • Equipment, tooling management and CapEx management
    • Assess and recommend the purchasing of manufacturing equipment, installation and commission. Facilitate operational cost reduction through productivity or material cost improvements supporting annual objectives.

  • Manufacturing documentation and standards
    • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing procedures/processes, including instruction manuals, documentation, pictures, step by step procedures, and training.

  • Through application of the duties listed herein, first priority is to ensure our customers are satisfied with the quality of the product sold to them. Secondarily is to assist the Director of Quality in solving internal quality problems that lower production efficiency and increase cost due to rework.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and adherence to the quality program.
  • Audits work performance to standard operating procedures.
  • Leads root cause analysis to help resolve quality defect issues.
  • Technical problem solving and support of the service centers (manufacturing facilities)
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent previous work history in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar setting
  • Proficient with AutoCAD & Excel
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
  • Experience as a quality or manufacturing engineer in a mission critical business space
  • Project management experience is a must
  • Strong ability to explain topics and influence others
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Bias to action and driving results
  • Ability to exercise professional influence with tact and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers
