The Town of Erie is hiring for aTemporary Administrative Assistantto join us in our Utilities Department!

Under general supervision and direction of the Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Temporary Administrative Assistant performs highly responsible clerical and administrative support work in carrying out the duties and activities of the Utilities department.




Temporary, Hourly

Hiring rates are dependent upon experience.



Anticipated Hiring Hourly Range



$24.39/hr - $28.18/hr




Work Hours: Typical working hours are 7:00AM - 3:30PM, Monday - Friday




  • Please note: this is a temporary role, intended to help cover the Utilities Department for an estimated 608 total working hours. Total working hours may vary based on departmental needs. The employee will be terminated upon completion of the assignment.





Work Location: Leon A Wurl Service Center (150 Bonnell Ave, Erie, CO)




  • This position is 100% in-person and not eligible for remote work

Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilities Administration



  • Handles full range of clerical and administrative work, including high level research, spreadsheets, data manipulation, preparation of complex documents and database administration.
  • General administrative support to the Utilities Department.
  • May assist during absences of other Department administrative staff.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and conferences and interviews.
  • Assist O&M staff with training or conference registration and travel related items
  • Relieves division head of routine details; handles phone calls and inquiries; solves routine problems within scope of authority; handles and processes all routine correspondence, letters, and memos, drafting appropriate responses.
  • Assists the public, media outlets and other Town and County staff with access to departmental records within the guidelines set by State statute and the Town.
  • Assists with maintenance requests submitted via the Town's portal.
  • Prepares and maintains departmental records and reports for meetings, notices, agendas, and other matters.
  • Works closely with the divisions regarding the processing of invoices, purchase orders, journal entries and overall maintenance of budget.
  • Performs detailed data entry; prepares spreadsheets and graphs to interpret data for supplemental and fiscal budget.
  • May assist division heads with preparation and maintenance of budget items.
  • May assist divisions with processing and maintenance of annual general service contracts
  • May assist with the preparation and maintenance of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • May attend staff, committee and assist in agenda preparation, attend, and prepare minutes of meetings.
  • Uses and trains other staff in use of department related software.
  • Works positively with staff in the O&M Division, as well as other divisions and departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and Benefits

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Three years of administrative or advanced clerical experience.



A combination of education and experience may be considered.
