Role Summary

As a Commercial Risk Management Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in how risk management supports the success of Commercial Banking. Over 12 weeks, you'll learn key risk principles, contribute to meaningful projects, and collaborate with experts across diverse business areas - from Commercial Real Estate to Treasury Management. This internship offers the foundation to launch your career in banking and financial services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Learn and apply Associated Bank's risk management frameworks, including risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Understand the commercial lending cycle and the wide range of banking products that support business clients.

  • Analyze business processes to identify and assess risks across multiple commercial banking lines.

  • Collaborate with corporate risk management teams to monitor and report risk exposures.

  • Assist in preparing risk dashboards and metrics, including key risk and performance indicators.

  • Support project planning and coordination of key initiatives within Commercial Banking.

  • Participate in specialized training to deepen knowledge and enhance professional skills.

  • Complete program assignments and assessments within required timeframes, demonstrating continuous learning and growth.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • First-generation college student currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.

  • Must reside within 30 miles of Milwaukee or Chicago for the duration of the internship.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Interest in banking, finance, or risk management.

Preferred:

  • Coursework or prior experience related to business, finance, or data analysis.

  • Demonstrated leadership or involvement in campus or community organizations.
