SUMMARY

Westlake Royal Building Products Roofing & Stone Division is actively seeking a self-driven, energic and dynamic Senior Accountant. The position will be responsible for the comprehensive accounting functions of R&S manufacturing assets with a strong emphasis on product costing, inventory control and manufacturing variance analysis. Senior accountants are expected to work independently to become financial and accounting expert in his/her area. Position has contact with all levels of management as well as independent auditors.

ACCOUNTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support all General Accounting functions for the WRBP Roofing & Stone Divisions with a focus on product costing, inventory control and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Prepare Reporting & Journal Entries in support of Monthly Close schedule.
  • Journal entry prep & authorization compliance.
  • Analyze/ prepare Sales Rebate / Warranty / Commissions / Sales Returns / Payroll / Plant Op Exp / E&O / LCM Reserves & Accruals. All other liability accruals as needed.
  • Prepare Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations for accounts directly assigned.
  • Assist in Monthly Trial Balance preparation & submission to Corporate.
  • Preparation of support schedules for Roofing & Stone Monthly/Quarterly/Annual financial reporting packs as needed.
  • Prepare supporting 10Q/10K data and other regulatory reporting and filing data as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to and effectiveness of internal control in own area of responsibility. Facilitate internal and external audit needs.
  • Prepare schedules / analyses for the assembly of the quarterly review, annual audit kit and internal audit data for both the external and internal auditors as needed.
  • Support Division's budgeting, forecasting and other FP&A activities with required analysis.
  • Responsible for keeping current with technical accounting pronouncements and trends, analyzing their impact on the Company, and application of new accounting pronouncements in accordance with Westlake policy.
  • Coordinate and support activities across locations and departments. Manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to management requests. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other ad-hoc duties and analysis assigned by Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's in accounting with 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience in both public accounting and the private sector is required, preferably with a manufacturing background.
  • Cost accounting experience is required.
  • CPA, CMA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with financial reporting & analysis, budgeting and general accounting is required.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, preferably JD Edwards and SAP, is critical to the position.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must be comfortable presenting to Management and communicating results across multiple levels within the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and perform self-review of work product for quality in a dynamic environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee occasionally lifts and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
