POSITION SUMMARY

The Audit Letter Response Analyst plays a vital role within the firm's Conflicts Department, monitoring, managing, reviewing, and drafting incoming audit letter requests for firm clients. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is committed to the highest standards of compliance and client service. The Audit Letter Response Analyst works closely with firm partners, attorneys, and Conflicts team members to ensure all audit letter requests are processed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with the American Bar Association Statement of Policy Regarding Lawyers' Responses to Auditors' Requests for Information (ABA Statement) and firm policies. The role also supports special projects and contributes to the department's ongoing success and innovation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Audit Letter Management

  • Oversee and assist in the firm's audit letter response process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all requests.
  • Review audit letter responses, supporting documentation, and prior responses and/or engagement letters for compliance with the ABA Statement and firm policies and procedures.
  • Revise or draft audit letter responses for attorney review.
  • Escalate issues or questions as needed to ensure responses satisfy the ABA Statement and firm policies.
  • Coordinate with business professionals to deliver responses to attorneys and auditors.
  • Monitor the status of audit letter requests and follow up to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Make recommendations for the continuous improvement of audit letter response and delivery.

Training & Development

  • Develop expertise in the audit letter response process, including deep understanding of the ABA Statement and client confidentiality principles.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training sessions on internal audit letter procedures.
  • Design and conduct targeted training programs for new hires and business professionals, as needed, to ensure understanding and compliance with audit letter protocols.

Special Projects & Departmental Support

  • Support additional tasks related to new business intake and lateral conflict clearance as needed.
  • Conduct periodic audits of client and matter records to verify accurate coding of party information.
  • Follow up on new business conflict requests to promote timely and efficient processing.
  • Assist with the implementation, documentation, and maintenance of ethical walls and screens.
  • Support the closure and proper documentation of client files and matters.
  • Contribute to software implementation, testing, and other special projects as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of Audit Analysis experience within a law firm or a professional service environment is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to adapt to new software and applications required. Experience with Intapp conflicts checking and new business intake software preferred.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to the firm office with the ability to come into the office 3-4 days per week.

SALARY

Illinois based applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $78,000 - $85,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
