Contract Analyst

Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Contract Analyst. This position will collaborate with Firm attorneys and clients to review, edit, draft, and manage contracts. The Contract Analyst will be a member of the contract review team, working under the supervision of Chapman attorneys and reporting directly to the Contract Review Manager. The position will also assist in the deployment and integration of new technologies to advance the efficiency and delivery of legal services. The position includes flexibility for hybrid or remote work.

The responsibilities of the Contract Analyst will include:

* Reviewing a high volume of contracts with accuracy and thorough attention to detail while following specific legal and client guidelines

* Revising and commenting on contracts to suggest alternate language based on guidelines and incorporating client requirements

* Running redlines and comparing new contracts against precedent materials

* Managing multiple review projects at once, meeting deadlines and prioritizing projects according to client and team requirements

* Communicating with clients and counterparties to explain changes and comments in documents

* Negotiating contract changes with third parties

* Organizing project materials into repositories; profiling project information

* Participating in training of new contract review team members

* Serving as point of contact for questions and requests from client and team members

* Assisting and continuously improving the ongoing process involved in contract review and providing suggestions to existing guidelines and templates

* Participating in planning activities and meetings with primary stakeholders

* Conferring with the Practice Innovations team to develop strategies that promote innovation and deliver improved processes and technology tools to Chapman attorneys and clients

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a JD and at least one (1) year of experience in a professional setting, or a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a professional setting. Licensed attorneys are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with prior experience in contract analysis, law firm environments, or in-house legal departments will be prioritized.

* Critical thinking skills with ability to read dense materials with close attention to detail

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and keen problem-solving skills

* Experience working with spreadsheet and database software and/or business systems is desired

* Pride of ownership with client service

* The ability to communicate and discuss complex concepts with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

* Excellent time management and project management skills, with ability to work independently to meet objectives and deadlines

* Patient and positive attitude when working with clients, third parties, managers, and colleagues

* Willingness to continually learn and adapt to change

* Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security

In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is $70,000-$80,000. The benefits overview for this position is available for review at the below link.
