Specimen Logistics Specialist

The Pathology Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient, and timely support of laboratory samples throughout the collection and transportation process for the Department of Pathology, while also serving as a liaison for both clients and our performing laboratories to support service needs. This role bridges operational execution with customer support, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to regulatory and internal standards.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Coordinate specimen logistics including receipt, labeling, packaging, storage, and transport across COH campuses and external labs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize LIS and logistics software to track specimens, document issues, and ensure accurate data entry and labeling using at least two unique identifiers.
  • Enforce strict specimen identification protocols to prevent unlabeled specimens from being transported; escalate issues to leadership immediately.
  • Support on-campus transport operations at Rivergrade and Duarte, including STAT specimen delivery and courier coverage.
  • Maintain and distribute collection kits to COH and external sites, ensuring timely replenishment and usage before expiration.
  • Serve as liaison for client support, responding to inquiries, coordinating send-outs, uploading results, and ensuring smooth communication between COH sites and pathology services.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School Diploma

  • 1 year experience in laboratory specimen receiving/processing department

Additional Information:

  • Hourly Pay: $22.27 - $28.00

City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
