POSITION TITLE: Christmas Mall Assistant

REPORTS TO: Corps Officers

STATUS: Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt, Full Time

Approximate start date November 10, 2025, and working through December 31, 2025

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Christmas Mall Assistant assists the Christmas Mall Coordinator with seasonal programs that take place at Tacoma Mall during the holiday season, namely the Giving Tree and Gift Wrapping Booth.

ESSENTIAL PROGRAM AIDE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the setup and operation of the Giving Tree, and the Gift Wrapping Booth fundraiser at the Tacoma Mall.
• Ensure adequate supplies and tags are maintained and available.
• Assist in the coordination of toy pick-ups from the Mall with Seasonal Christmas Drivers and Corps Officers.
• Help recruit and coordinate volunteers for both the Giving Tree and the Gift Wrap Booth.
• Orient and lead volunteers for the Giving Tree and the Gift Wrap Booth onsite, as needed
• Maintain volunteer logs and report volunteer hours to Business Operations Manager.
• Maintain onsite contact and good rapport with key Mall staff
• Assist with the handling of cash and credit card payments at the Gift Wrap Booth.

• Ability to quickly learn and apply new information/skills
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the comprehensive mission of The Salvation Army
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a challenging environment and maintain poise under pressure
• Ability and willingness to keep information confidential

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:

• Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (email)
• Square Terminal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Ability to operate telephone
• Ability to operate desktop or laptop computer
• Ability to understand written information.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (emptying trash, moving boxes, etc.)

Work Schedule / Location: This position is located at the Tacoma (Simon Mall) and The Salvation Army Tacoma Corps in Tacoma, Washington. The schedule is based on program needs.
