Role Snapshot

Our Provider Contract Manager is responsible for negotiating, drafting, and managing agreements with independent providers, health systems, third-party networks, and vendors to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to plan members. This Provider Contract Manager will be required to the establish and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with healthcare providers, vendor partners, and network organizations. They will develop contract terms, negotiate rates, manage contract renewals, and resolve disputes.

Salary Range
$85,000 ~ $110,000
The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

We offer remote work from Wisconsin



  • Employees living within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to be able to work Hybrid 2 days a week on a regular basis. Onsite work will be tailored for team cohesion, strategy, planning and collaboration.

  • Can negotiate rates, reimbursement methodologies, and contract language with both new and existing providers to secure network agreements and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Enjoy analyzing, developing, and monitoring provider contract proposals and ongoing performance to ensure alignment with corporate goals and compliance with performance expectations related to cost, utilization, quality metrics, member satisfaction, and network adequacy
  • Thrive when educating providers on relevant policy updates, available resources, and tools to enhance their experience with WPS.
  • Like to collaborate cross-functionally to address provider and network inquiries and contribute to continuous process improvements.
  • Can review and approve system configurations and network validations for specific agreements.
  • Enjoy partnering with leadership to identify and implement innovative contracting strategies.
  • Have managed and maintained strong business relationships with assigned providers; represent WPS in meetings with providers via phone, video, or in person, and participate in relevant community functions.
  • Can lead or support cross-functional initiatives that align with and advance corporate objectives.
  • Would like participating in internal workgroups and teams.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in contracting, provider relations, or network development.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiations.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across various stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in contracting for healthcare services within a health plan network or for a health care provider organization.
  • Experience working with a variety of healthcare reimbursement models for professional, facility and ancillary services.
  • Familiar with the Wisconsin provider landscape.
  • Strong experience using MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel within the State of Wisconsin.
