Job DescriptionThe Electronic Security Systems Operator supports the Campus Police Department by managing and monitoring electronic security systems across multiple college campuses. This role is responsible for the daily operation of the college's video surveillance (Milestone), and access control (Brivo) systems to enhance campus safety, support police investigations, and maintain situational awareness. The coordinator ensures proper system functionality, provides technical support to police personnel, maintains access records and audit logs, and assists in incident response and emergency operations. Working closely with law enforcement, facilities, and IT teams, this position plays a key role in the coordination and operational effectiveness of physical security infrastructure.

Salary is $69,050.88 USD Annual. Essential Functions

System Administration & Technical Support

Serve as the primary operator and technical contact for video management systems (Milestone) and access control systems (Brivo)

Surveillance & Access Monitoring

Monitor live surveillance feeds and access control alerts to support real-time campus police operations

Investigative Support

Review and export security footage and access logs in support of investigations and public safety requests

Access Control Management

Maintain access control groups, badge permissions, and door schedules across campus buildings

System Maintenance & Vendor Coordination

Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and installations with vendors and internal IT/facilities teams

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain system documentation, access audit logs, and incident records for compliance and reporting

Emergency Response Support

Participate in emergency response and drills; provide real-time system support to command staff

Training & User Support

Conduct training for campus police or dispatch personnel on use of security systems

Vendor Liaison Responsibilities

Serve as a liaison with vendors (Milestone, Brivo) for escalated support, license renewals, or feature requests.

Education, Experience, & Skills

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Public Safety Technology, Information Technology or related field.

Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

Experience with Milestone XProtect, Brivo, or similar security technology platforms
Understanding of physical security principles, electronic door hardware, credentialing, and IP-based surveillance systems

Familiarity with police dispatch, incident response, or public safety workflows

Strong organizational and documentation skills

Ability to work calmly under pressure in security-sensitive situations

High integrity and discretion with access to sensitive security data

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of building access policies, Clery Act compliance, or emergency response protocols.

Ability to interpret blueprints or campus layouts.

Experience in higher education or government/public safety environments.

Able to respond to after-hours emergencies and work on-site during major events.

Must have a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles.

Certifications (preferred but not required):

Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT)

Brivo Certified Specialist:

ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP)
FEMA/NIMS training (ICS 100/200)

Work Environment & Additional Information Work Location

This is an on-campus position that requires employees to be physically present at a campus location at least three days per week

Travel Requirements

This role may require occasional travel to different office locations and events

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform essential physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, or other job-specific movements as needed.

Time Type

This position is full time, requiring a standard 40-hour work week

FLSA Classification

This role is classified as salaried, exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
