SCOPE OF POSITION: The Lead Caregiver, as directed by Program Management, supervises all staff and children on shift to help ensure the needs of the department are met. Some work includes during Holidays. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: 
  
 High school diploma or GEDFive years of successful experience working with children and management
 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  
 At least twenty-one years oldWork successfully with the challenging behaviors of children in careEffective communication and problem-solving skillsPass a DCYF criminal background check and a Salvation Army background checkBe free from communicable diseases as indicated by a TB screeningBe emotionally mature and stable in order to provide consistency, structure, and nurturingCPR/First Aid trainingBlood borne pathogen/HIV trainingDe-escalation and restraint trainingFood Handlers permitChild Safety TrainingHIPAA TrainingMay be required to drive TSA fleet vehicles and if so:
 
    
 Have valid WA Driver License, pass a Motor Vehicle background check and driver training

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  
 Manage children's transportation needs; HEART program, bus schedules and other arrangementsAdminister progressive discipline action to employees when requiredOversee children's behavior management programEnsure the safety of all children in careEnsure facility security; keep windows and doors locked and reporting any security concernsSubmit repair requests to the Program Manager and Maintenance Coordinator.Conduct monthly fire drills (on a rotation basis)Oversee staff schedules, time sheet procedures, and breaks; maintain proper ratio requirementsEnsure compliance with WAC's and contract requirements for safety, ratios, etc.Prepare and present information on required training topics at all staff meetingsComplete all intake and discharge paperwork for your shift as required by policyMaintain documentation of privileged communications with caseworkers, other agenciesAdminister medications to children and document dailyEnsure compliance with Child Safety; Report abuse allegations to CPS and The Salvation ArmyEnsure protection of sensitive and confidential information; compliance with HIPPAManage appointments and visitations for children in careOversee employees, curriculum, homework and activities during assigned shiftFunction as a team memberFollow all policies and procedures as outlined in the policies and procedures handbookFollow all Child Safety policies and proceduresCommunicate program needs & children's needs to supervisorsDirectly supervise children in care providing consistency and structure; document daily activitiesLead/participate in bathing, meals, sports, learning, swimming, field trips & tutoring activitiesModel appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for the children; offer guidance as neededAssist the children in identifying and meeting their physical needsClean the facility when neededDo laundry when neededAssist with snow removal when necessaryServe food to the children at meal times and snack timesReport allegations of abuse/neglect to a supervisor and to CPS within 24 hoursMake sure that the facility remains secure by keeping windows and doors locked and by reporting any security concernsDevelop positive, professional relationships with coworkersAssist employees and interns with understanding program, policies and proceduresAll other duties as assigned.
