What to Expect

As a Software Engineer on Tesla's FinTech Team, you'll drive disruptive innovation in our AI-first transformation, architecting hyper-scale systems for payments, reconciliation, billing, invoicing, and accounts receivables that handle billions in annual revenue from online and offline customer payments. Our mission-critical automation generates invoices, reconciles transactions upon bank hits, posts to ledgers, and navigates global market complexities with 99.99% uptime-now evolving to support Tesla's next era of Robotaxi and Optimus expansion. This high-impact role challenges you to rethink foundational platforms for unprecedented scale; it's demanding but rewarding for driven, pragmatic engineers motivated to fuel Tesla's sustainable future through cutting-edge, autonomous workflows and cross-team collaboration.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and scale core FinTech infrastructure, encompassing payments, reconciliation, billing, invoicing, and accounts receivables systems
  • Directly work with internal and external stakeholders to understand pain points, propose solutions, and ship them across financial workflows
  • Re-think and design reconciliation, billing, and invoicing platforms from 0 to 1 with an AI-first vision
  • Own end-to-end the complete lifecycle of offline payments, accounts receivables, and related financial processes at Tesla
  • Identify and incorporate AI Agents to increase automation in payments, billing, and reconciliation tasks
  • Implement orchestration engines for reliability and human-in-the-loop workflows across FinTech platforms
  • Improve the reliability and observability of FinTech platforms at Tesla, including monitoring for billing accuracy and invoice processing
  • Apply software engineering best practices-including version control, testing, CI/CD, and containerization
  • Leverage exposure to FinTech domains like payments, reconciliation, billing, invoicing, or accounts receivables to optimize global operations
  • Contribute to scalable systems in high-stakes environments, such as fintech or global operations, ensuring seamless integration with Tesla's expanding ecosystem

What You'll Bring
  • Strong foundation in Computer Science, with a degree in CS, Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating production systems at scale
  • Experience architecting and maintaining distributed systems, with deep familiarity in container orchestration, service deployment, and infrastructure operations
  • Demonstrated ability to set up robust observability systems from scratch, including distributed tracing, logging, and metrics pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms and self-hosting complex infrastructure components in high-availability environments
  • Experience building AI agents or integrating intelligent systems into real-world applications, with an understanding of system-level design considerations for AI-powered functionality
  • Strong background in developing agentic workflows (e.g., AI-driven autonomous systems for decision-making and task orchestration)
  • Proficiency in preferred programming languages like Go (Golang) and C# for building scalable, efficient systems
  • Familiarity with emerging AI technologies or tools for automation in financial workflows
  • Proven track record of handling global-scale complexities, such as multi-market payments and high-uptime requirements in mission-critical systems
