Description

The Infrastructure Manager is a working manager who leads a small hybrid team (on-site + remote) of Systems & Network Engineers, while owning the availability, reliability, security, and scalability of IWCO's enterprise infrastructure. This role blends leadership of a diverse team of engineers, coupled with deep technical execution across on-premises systems coupled with other configurations in Azure/Entra/M365.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead a team of 6-10 direct reports; manages vendor relationships, and contractor capacity as needed.



Primary Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Operate & Optimize

    • Ensure high availability, performance, and continuity for on-prem and cloud services; own incident, problem, and change practices.
    • Manage capacity, patching, configuration, and lifecycle management across servers, storage, virtualization, and M365.
    • Build/maintain PowerShell and other automations for provisioning, monitoring, compliance, backup, and DR tasks.


  • Hybrid/Cloud Identity Management

    • Administer Active Directory and Entra/Azure configurations as well as other providers for (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), data networking, storage, Entra ID (hybrid identity, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM/PAM), and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, Intune/Endpoint Management, Defender, as applicable).


  • Virtualization & Core Infrastructure

    • Own VMware vSphere stacks (clusters, HA/DRS), Windows / Linux Servers, SAN, backups/replication, and DR SLA (RPO/RTO).
    • Maintain core network services (DNS/DHCP, Certificates, load balancing, VPN).


  • Data & SQL

    • Support Microsoft SQL Server administration basics (backups/restore, security, jobs, performance triage).


  • Security & Compliance

    • Work hand in hand with Information Security to implement zero-trust-aligned controls; enforce least privilege, hardening standards, and timely vulnerability patching.
    • Assist in meeting client and regulatory expectations (e.g., SOC 2, PCI, HIPAA) in collaboration with InfoSec, support audits and evidence collections.


  • People & Vendor Leadership

    • Lead 6-10 Systems/Network Engineers; Promote safety & security, establish goals, set priorities, mentor, conduct reviews, and manage upgrades & outages.
    • Manage vendors; negotiate SLAs and renewals; help track and optimize IT spending.


  • Planning & Communication

    • Roadmap and deliver upgrades/migrations; produce runbooks, diagrams, and manage team documentation currency.
    • Report health, risk, capacity, and cost to IT leadership with clear metrics.





Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:



  • Expertise:

    • Active Directory, Azure & Entra ID (hybrid identity, Conditional Access, MFA, PIM/PAM, RBAC).
    • Microsoft 365 admin (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, Intune/Defender).
    • VMware vSphere (clusters/HA/DRS).
    • PowerShell (you've built robust, reusable scripts/modules).
    • Windows Server (AD DS, GPOs, DHCP/DNS fundamentals).
    • SAN/NAS storage management & maintenance.
    • SQL Server ops (backup/restore, security, jobs, performance basics).


  • Proven ownership of availability, DR, backups, and monitoring/alerting at scale.
  • Strong understanding of security hardening and compliance supporting regulated environments.
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative / agentic AI).
  • Preferred: Azure systems implementations & management.
  • Endpoint hardening/baselines with Intune; Autopilot, app packaging.
  • SSO/SAML/OIDC app integrations; certificate management.
  • Linux / Mac administration fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Omnissa Horizon VDI infrastructure.
  • Experience with Veem, CommVault (or similar) backup platforms.



Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications a plus (e.g., Azure Administrator/Architect, Entra ID, M365, VMware VCP).
  • 7+ years in IT Infrastructure/operations.
  • 2+ years leading four or more engineers (team lead or manager) in a hybrid environment.



Physical Requirements:



  • Hybrid: 2-3 days per week on-site presence for changes, incidents, and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work 8 hours consecutively.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel: ~10-15% for alternate site datacenter, teams.


Salary:
The starting salary range for this position is $135,000- $145,000/yr.

At IWCO, base pay is determined by job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience, along with factors such as role scope and location.
