Job Description
- Provide direction and support (via email/phone) to donors, team members, and other directors regarding university and government policies and procedures regarding donations and bio information.
- Guides managers/directors with planning new programs, fundraising efforts, and processes for Advancement. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term service and operational objectives and address resource and operational challenges.
- Serves on multiple committees and is in touch with various vendors to identify and test new technology to improve the team's accuracy and efficiencies.
- Supervises six full-time employees in processing over $100 million in donations annually.
- Donations must be recorded according to University and IRS guidelines. Oversee the issuing of tax receipts, coordinate training for new FTEs, procedure updates, career guidance, performance evaluation, etc.
- Guides Advancement and Fiscal Officers by requesting new gift accounts in the PeopleSoft system. Directs and handles setting up the new allocations in Advance to match the attributes assigned in the financial system and any modifications to existing fields.
- Reconciles the department's pending account, an interest-bearing account used to hold donations given before the account paperwork is finalized.
- Reconciles the department clearing account. All donated funds, in any form, to the university flow into this account (checks, cash, GIKs, credit cards, PayPal, stock, IRAs, etc.).
- Works with the Advancement Director of Compliance/Auditor to ensure that GASB/IRS donation standards are followed, and PCI standards are upheld.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in Advancement Services within a higher education setting.
- Prior experience in managing and supervising a team with complex responsibilities.
- Experience recording athletic seating data for an NCAA Division I (D1) University.
- Expert knowledge of core technologies currently utilized in Advancement, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, CRMs, online giving platforms, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, writing, verbal, and presentation development.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000 per year Grade: UNC University Title: DIRECTOR II ADVANCEMENT Internal applicants can determine their University title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
