OverviewThe COO (Chief Operating Officer) organization enables Microsoft's commercial business to better serve every person and organization's transformation and economic success. How? We design, build, and manage the levers that accelerate commercial growth and shorten the cycle between customer signal and delivery. The Executive Office team supporting the COO plays a pivotal role in this journey and is responsible for maximizing the scale, impact, and voice of the COO and the broader organization. We accomplish this through four pillars: business operations, people & culture, communications, and cross org strategic project & program orchestration. As the Sr Business Management, you will take on end-to-end ownership of strategic global programs and special projects, collaborating closely with key stakeholders across the org, the commercial business, and the broader Microsoft ecosystem. You will be embedded into the Exec Office team, reporting to the Chief of Staff, while you learn all the behind-the-scenes of the operating procedures and processes to ensure that the commercial business priorities can be achieved. You will exercise and develop your operational and business management skills and be able to support the business efficiently at any level. Bringing broad and deep business acumen, sound decision-making and operational excellence to bear is essential in this role. ResponsibilitiesSpecial Projects/Programs Drives cross-team projects, as needed, to meet the changing business environment and manage complex business needs. Engages in project management or may act as a project/program manager to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations. Draft communications and develops presentations and messaging related to the team's key projects. May perform executive-level communication with a variety of audiences. Ensures alignment with business priorities. Proactively seeks out relevant content to communicate to the organization Designs and oversees the creation of foundational and storytelling content within the organization. Uses understanding of audience needs to ensure the optimal use of leaders' time. Synthesizes findings within workstream and identifies links to broader strategic efforts for content and external facing thought leadership. Provides direction for criteria to break down complex information into actionable steps for audience. Drives accountability for the team and organization in executing core business activities. Reviews performance, commitments, execution and leverages stakeholders to achieve results. Serves as a point of contact while understanding the business status. Creates clarity in ambiguous situations to facilitate and drive prioritization and decision making for leaders across the organization. Maximizing/ Extending the Leader Manages and builds relationships with senior leaders and executive internal leaders while potentially interacting with a broader array of high-level partners. Leverages relationships to influence and advise on strategic decisions, create content, and/or drive agendas with effective follow up. Creates alignment within partnerships by providing an objective point of view, ensuring all voices are heard, synthesizing ideas, and creating an action plan. Utilizes knowledge of the leader's goals and business approach to ensure business activities are aligned with the leader's objectives. Supports the leader in one or more key business management areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities, and definitions; budget/finance; industry/specific business knowledge). Synthesizes information into insights that inform business decisions, leveraging expertise to influence the leader and leadership team. Uses people management skills to assist the leader with people management, as needed, and land organizational changes. Business Operations Works with senior leaders to drive outcomes on projects by providing direction and determining objectives to execute, which align with the organization's goals. Collaborates with internal stakeholders and Microsoft teams to seek alignment of processes and oversees the creation and implementation of execution plans. Establishes best practices for a strategy by leveraging consolidated information, advocating for business cases, and presents cases to leader and business partners. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with strategy to help streamline business strategy. Works with the organization to establish and report against targets for projects and adjusts targets if necessary. | |
