As a Software Engineer on the WEX Benefits Technology team, you will work in a team that partners closely with Product Managers and customers to learn about the challenges employers face while navigating the competitive employee benefits landscape. You will design solutions that solve problems in ways our customers love and work for our business. You will build the highest quality software in the latest technologies and test driven development practices. Responsibilities: * Collaborate with stakeholders to learn about our customers biggest challenges. * Measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data. * Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions. * Strengthen and drive our engineering process with TDD and BDD, Microservice and Vertical Slice Architectures. * Support live applications, promote proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement. * Analyze existing systems and processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements. * Mentor and learn from your peers, foster continuous learning within your team and organization. * Learn our team's process and best practices, and independently apply them to given tasks. * Work closely with senior team members and your manager to review completed work. * Focus on continuous learning of new technologies. * Highly self-motivated, take ownership of your work, actively seek out ways to contribute, and require minimal supervision. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; OR demonstrable equivalent experience. * At least 3 years of experience in software engineering. * Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills. * Passionate about keeping up with modern technologies and design. * Experience building and consuming REST APIs Technology Must-Haves: * C#, Python (if applicable) * Modern RDBMS (i.e. MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL) * ASP.NET RESTful API design Technology Nice-To-Have or Dedicate to Learning Quickly: * Modern Web UI Frameworks and Libraries (i.e. Angular, React) * Kubernetes * Helm/ArgoCD * Terraform * GitHub Actions * NoSQL databases * GraphQL * Azure * Docker * Kafka / event-driven design Mobile API Required Qualifications: * Willing to participate alongside iOS and Android engineers on the same team to achieve common goals * Willing to learn and experiment in a mobile app engineering context, creating and maintaining APIs for use by mobile applications * Willing to step beyond API engineering and participate in mobile client (e.g. code reviews) to make the holistic mobile team and mobile product successful Mobile API Nice-To-Have: * WCF Mobile iOS Nice-To-Have: * Experience developing native iOS solutions * Xcode * Swift * Objective-C * Protocol-Oriented Programming (POP) methodology * iOS frameworks including Combine/Observation, SwiftUI, Swift Testing, UIKit, UIStoryboard, and XCTest Mobile Android Nice-To-Have: * Experience developing native Android solutions * Android Studio * Kotlin * Java * Android and Kotlin frameworks / libs including Coroutines, Flow, Retrofit, Moshi, Jetpack libraries (Hilt, Lifecycle, ViewModel), JUnit, and MockK. Mobile Nice-To-Have: * Experience with both Android and iOS development * Experience with hybrid development platforms like MAUI/Xamarin or Flutter * Maintain and modify automated Jenkins builds * Expert with front-end mobile technologies * Passionate about mobile application development and outspoken about UX design guidelines set forth by Apple and Google
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
