Description The 2nd Floor Post-Surgical Unit is a 40-bed adult inpatient unit that primarily serves patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, general surgeries, and urologic interventions. With an average of 5-10 admissions per day, the unit stays active while maintaining a strong focus on quality post-operative care. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. New graduate nurses complete a 12-13 week Vizient residency program, while experienced RNs receive 3-5 weeks of orientation tailored to their background. Nurse scheduling currently includes two weekends per 6-week schedule, though every-other-weekend coverage may be required depending on staffing needs. Nurses and Nursing Assistants are expected to work one-half of the hospital holidays annually, with NA shifts typically including every other weekend.
