Job Description

3rd Shift * 15% Shift Differential*

Pay Range: $18.50/h - $25/h

* Depending upon experience *

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform diversified duties to prepare daily production and melting schedules, to prepare charges for furnaces, and to maintain related controls and records. Perform duties of caster, as needed, and assigned.
  • Work from charge sheets, specifications, alloying formulas and / or any special instructions supplied to weigh out and prepare furnace charges.
  • Make necessary calculations to determine proportional quantities for partial charges.
  • Exercise care in selecting and weighing charge component materials to avoid incorrect alloying, intermingling or contamination. Use hand truck or fork lift to deliver charges to furnace areas.
  • Maintain records of material received, on hand and issued; prepare and maintain individual charge records.
  • Following established methods, obtain and prepare virgin metal and heat samples for chemical analysis, and maintain analysis log of all heats and virgin materials, specified allowing and other related data in established form and detail.
  • Take periodic physical inventories.
  • Maintain inventory control records of all virgin, alloying and scrap material on hand; make receipt and issuance entries, extend and total. Prepare periodic use and level reports following established practice.
  • Notify supervision of apparent shortages or excesses brought about by changed material requirements.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and any unusual conditions to supervisor.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.
  • *Perform all physical functions of position; standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, kneeling, turning and lifting of materials up to 35 lbs.
  • Meet established attendance standards.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • At least 3 years of trade experience.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
