CAD Operator - Fire & Life Safety Division

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, and results-driven CAD Operator to join our amazing culture. Under minimal supervision, this colleague will be working with the project designers to provide AutoCAD support producing fire alarm & life safety shop drawings to include but not limited to floor plans, riser diagrams, details, system calculations, and schedules. These projects could be small to large projects with low to high level of complexity.

What you'll do with "Our Training and Your Experience"

• Prepares system shop and installation drawings from engineered documentation under minimal supervision of the Project Designer for construction or permits.
• Prepare system as-built drawings from onsite drawing mark-ups under minimal supervision of the Project Designer.
• Assembles drawing package sets and data sheets for submittal or permit; works on moderate to complex drawing package sets and data sheets.
• Assembles product data sheet submittals, operations and maintenance manuals and system documentation.
• Reviews own drawings for quality and accuracy. May review drawings from other colleagues.
• Prints, runs copies, distributes shop drawings/close-out documents to different departments/clients as necessary.
• Completes assign drawings on time and on budget.
• Assists colleagues with drafting support as requested or required.
• Works closely with the Project Designer and/or Project Manager in assisting of any project drawing modifications.
• Organizes/maintains project folders and drawings.
• Updates project schedule daily.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You'll Need

• Strong knowledge/expertise in latest version of AutoCAD
• Advanced skills in reading and understanding architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components
• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Technical knowledge and/or experience related to fire alarm systems.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Experience Requirements:

• Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience
• Minimum Experience: 1 year CAD or related undergraduate

Certifications & Licenses:

• Computer-Aided Drafting Certificate preferred.
