This position is expected to start around January 2026 and continue through the Winter/Spring term (ending approximately May 2026) or continuing into Summer 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla is looking for a Product InfoSec and Compliance Intern to join our Global Risk and Compliance team. As part of this internship, you will assist with risk and compliance efforts to design, evaluate, implement, and improve Tesla's IT Security Controls. You will join the IT Compliance team as part of the CIO's organization and support activities across the global organization, including supporting projects related to our Energy products (Megapack and Supercharger) and Vehicle Cybersecurity. The role will act as a liaison between the audit function and IT Security Teams across Tesla - you will work with SMEs across the organization to mature/design security controls, mitigate risk, and become a deep technical resource.


What You'll Do
  • Gain hands-on experience on the product side of Tesla, contributing to compliance and security efforts for innovative energy solutions like Megapack and Superchargers, as well as Vehicle Cybersecurity initiatives
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with data security policies and key regulatory frameworks such as SOC2 and NIS2, and other relevant requirements
  • Support the implementation of necessary changes and improvement actions to address compliance gaps and enhance security posture
  • Collaborate with security teams, external auditors, management, and other stakeholders to effectively mitigate risks to Tesla's IT environment
  • Contribute to the maintenance and updating of IT Security Policies across the organization to align with best practices and regulatory standards
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in security and compliance processes, develop action plans, and assist in executing changes efficiently
  • Work closely with engineers, business process owners, InfoSec, Internal Audit, external auditors, and system owners to test new software capabilities, programs, applications, and conduct risk assessments

What You'll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a relevant degree in Information Systems, Security Management, or a related field, with a graduation date between 2025 and 2027
  • Able to relocate and in Fremont, CA
  • Basic understanding of Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) efforts and their importance in an IT security context
  • Some exposure to supporting or mitigating risks in projects, preferably within an organizational or academic setting
  • Familiarity with the design and operation of third-party risk management processes or frameworks (through coursework, projects, or prior internships)
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP protocols, network topology) and operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) as they relate to security and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment alongside technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in dynamic settings

    Expected Compensation
    $29.00 - $37.00/hour + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
