Join us as our new Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler boosts productivity and work quality by proactively coordinating labor, materials, and equipment to prevent delays. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role oversees planning and scheduling of maintenance activities, prioritizes tasks, develops job plans, and ensures proper resources are engaged for safe and efficient execution.

In this role you'll make an impact by:
  • Acting as principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operations.

  • Ensuring maintenance service is delivered in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance.

  • Reviewing work requests from assigned areas, determining validity and accuracy of information and engaging the appropriate resources to set a preliminary priority.

  • Reviewing work requests and gaining clarity as needed to determine: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification and proper authorization.

  • Managing the status of work control and backlogs for work order submission to work order completion.

  • Verifying all material, information, tools and labor are available prior to scheduling.

  • Managing a backlog of work orders which require a major or significant portion of the facility to be shutdown.

  • Working with MRO Coordinator to manage spare part usage to maximize turns while minimizing risk of using critical spares.

  • Defining skills required for scope of work and identifying maintenance resources to assign to tasks working with Maintenance Supervisor. The Planner will also be responsible for task assignments during Maintenance Supervisor absences.

To succeed you must hold:
  • Understanding of maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system, planning/scheduling and storeroom processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.

  • Ability to manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database to ensure accurate information, including parts data, equipment data, and parts inventory.

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English to communicate accurate instructions verbally and written.

  • Possess craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirements and skills needed to complete a job. Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work.

  • Mechanical/electrical background is necessary. Apprenticeship program or technical school background is desirable.

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., & wear personal protective equipment.

  • Background with CMMS systems is preferred.

  • Experience working in a food or processing industry is preferred.

Expected Salary Range: $75k to $90k
