Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start January 2026 and continue through the entire Spring 2026 term (through April/May 2026). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks at 40 hours per week, for this internship. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. Internship Program at Tesla The Internship Recruiting Team is driven by the passion to recognize emerging talent. Our year around program places the best students in positions that they will grow both technically and personally through their experience working closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team. We provide an experience that allows for the intern to experience life at Tesla by giving them projects that are critical to their team's success. Tesla seeks a Sustainability intern - this role is a member of Tesla's global sustainability team and will play a key role in supporting Tesla's strategy on sustainability management, compliance, and reporting; driving, and monitoring progress on defined goals; and communicating Tesla's accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders. This position is based in Austin, Texas for the Spring term.
What You'll Do
- Support Tesla's environmental strategy working with the sustainability and regional environmental teams, including supporting Tesla's management of GHG emissions, waste and water footprint, development and implementation of decarbonization strategy and reporting
- Support Tesla's sustainability reporting strategy, especially as it relates to Tesla's annual Impact Report and associated tasks (project management, drafting, stakeholder engagement, data collection, assurance) and the management of ESG responses to various questionnaires (I.e. ESG rating agencies, external partners)
- Support Tesla's efforts in meeting various regulatory compliance requirements, i.e. CSRD, CSDDD, EU battery regulations, including actively tracking related trends and developments in sustainability compliance and disclosures
- Support the development of materials across various mediums (Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote etc.) for use in communication of sustainability data points and issues to relevant stakeholders on the sustainability team and across Tesla related GHG emissions, energy use, life cycle assessments, etc.
What You'll Bring
- Pursuing a degree in Public Policy, sustainability, Environmental Management, Communications or Business is preferred
- Previous experience or courses related to sustainability and / or environmental impact is preferred, with knowledge regarding corporate sustainability and the regulatory landscape
- Some understanding of sustainability issues and related frameworks, particularly relating to environmental and / or climate impact and ESG reporting
- Strong organizational skills and project management skills - possesses the ability to successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to adapt to different formats (dashboards, internal trainings, annual reports, etc.)
- Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders across multiple time zones
- Data management and analytical skills
