Position: Registered Nurse

Location: BMC Brighton 7E

Schedule: 36 Hours,12 Hour Shifts, rotating Day/Night, Every 3rd Weekend

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an RN on S7E, our Surgical/ Stepdown (PCC level) unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be able to deliver excellent care to surgical patients from a variety of specialties including orthopedics, vascular medicine, thoracic, bariatric and complex medicine. S7E is a 30-bed unit with a skilled nursingstaff, and candidates will work with our educators to ensure a robust orientation and training with a preceptor to ensure that you are prepared to optimal patient care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Deliver nursing care in the S7E unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues

  • Update and manage patient records

  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information

  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization

  • Assist the leadership team as needed inquality improvement projects


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred.

  • Previous Med-Surg experience preferred.

  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life support(ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certificate preferred and/or completed during orientation

  • PCC certification preferred, training for PCC education will be offered as part of a plan for professional growth.

  • Telemetry experience preferred

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.

  • Basic computer proficiency.

  • Fluency in another language a plus.
