Angel Tree Coordinator

Job Objective: The Seasonal Angel Tree Coordinator will serve as the primary contact for all Angel Tree related communications and will oversee the planning and implementation of the Angel Tree program.

Essential Functions:

Program Planning & Applications



  • Recruit volunteers to take applications
  • Organize and implement application dates
  • Enter applications into the computer program
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to detail applicants
  • Verify applications with other organizations to avoid duplication



Angel Tree Tags & Trees



  • Create an Angel Tree tag for each child
  • Contact businesses and organizations to secure interest in hosting tags
  • Maintain Angel Trees at businesses and organizations



Donations & Inventory



  • Accept, receipt, and log all donations
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers to accept donations after office hours



Preparation & Packing



  • Recruit and schedule volunteers to help with preparation and packing
  • Organize donated items for families and oversee packing process
  • Work with local businesses/organizations to secure necessary toys for distribution



Distribution



  • Recruit and schedule volunteers for distribution days
  • Implement and coordinate the distribution of donated items to families



Other Duties



  • Organize clean-up of distribution
  • Pack, label, and store remaining items for future use
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership



Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum one to experience planning and organizing large social services events preferred

Certifications/Licenses: None

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write, and understand English/Spanish sufficient for communication with leadership, volunteers, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
  • Able to work in fast-paced conditions while meeting or exceeding deadlines
  • Able to evaluate options and make independent decisions when necessary



Supervisory Responsibility: Program volunteers

Physical Requirements: Include speaking, hearing, vision and manual dexterity; standing up to two hours per day; sitting up to six hours per day; bending, squatting, and walking; lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds. Travel: None

Driving: Driving is required; must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence; must be approved through the Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to driver either a Salvation Army or personnel vehicle for Salvation Army business

Working Conditions: Work is performed in varied settings including office, warehouse, medical facility, and church; some evening and weekend work may be required
