The Position

The Opportunity

The Associate Health Economist within the Evidence for Access Team will support the development of Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR) evidence generation strategies and plans to demonstrate the value of Genentech products. This role is accountable for independently conducting HEOR research projects including economic modeling, real world data research and patient-reported outcomes research. This individual should be able to independently manage outside vendors and/or work collaboratively with internal data scientists from the technical institute to conduct HEOR to support one or more disease areas or molecules. H/She should be able to disseminate results at internal meetings or external conferences. H/She should be able to tailor communications to various audiences, and engage with external customers and therapeutic area experts.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Execute HEOR evidence generation tactics under minimal supervision and ensure the timely dissemination and communication of HEOR research.

  • Provide strategic input to support the pull through of evidence generated into publications and other promotional or reactive materials.

  • Present and discuss HEOR project methods and findings to diverse audiences

  • Develop therapeutic area knowledge and expertise, and be able to engage with experts in the HEOR area for specific disease areas.

  • Appropriately select and manage vendors and resources, including submission of information for contracting and other internal processes and making sure projects are completed within timeline and allocated budget and met all compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate and partner cross functionally including with medical, commercial, policy, pricing, Squad teams, and across US market access and field organizations to provide strategic input in support of the development of US value propositions for specific products. Individuals must be able to engage collaboratively with customers, therapeutic area experts and HEOR experts.

  • Own professional development and identify opportunities to develop leadership, strategic and technical skills. Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of new methods and advancements in the field of HEOR and Health Services Research.

  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.

We are looking for people who are strategic thinkers, have solid technical expertise in HEOR methods, and an understanding of the US market access environment who want to make a difference in demonstrating the value of Genentech products to support access. We are also looking for someone who is comfortable tackling the unknown, collaborative, agile, and able to ruthlessly prioritize.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline (health services research, epidemiology, health economics, public health) from an accredited institution of public health, medicine, pharmacy etc.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in HEOR in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Understanding of current and future US Market Access environment and broader healthcare landscape

  • Strong presentation skills and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of communicating HEOR strategies and evidence to various audiences

  • Cross-functional fluency and an ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and therapeutic areas

  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work on multiple large projects and tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Breast Cancer Health Economics Strategy and projects

Position location in South San Francisco

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $109,100.00 - 202,700/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
