Surgical Scheduler Baltimore, Maryland Pay From: $22 per hour MUST: Experienced Surgical Scheduler 2 plus years of current Surgery Scheduling experience Must have experience with Prior Authorization Must have experience with EMR Must have strong verbal and written communication skills Must have previous experience working patient admissions Must have experience working in a fast-paced environment DUTIES: Surgical Scheduler will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: Obtaining pre-op test results and clearances Ensure that pre-op and post-op appointments are scheduled Preps physician charges Submit surgical and consult charges Ensuring appropriate authorizations are obtained Getting information to appropriate facilities serving as a liaison between the physicians, mid- level practitioners, and the surgery scheduler Assisting with precertification Assist with front desk operations Assist with collections Sets priorities and organizes work Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information. This includes procedures in the operating room, GI lab, and arrangements for 23-hour stay Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing Verifies information being entered into system is correct, i.e. spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc. Ensuring all necessary paperwork for any patient -add on'' is received by the appropriate staff Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff Ensures all required fields in system are completed Works closely with OR director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts Alerts administration when new doctors or procedures are scheduled Cross trains with other areas Other duties as assigned Completes consents and ensures accuracy before submitting to the chart builder Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process Coordinate and schedule test/surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians Interact with patients, physicians and other staff both within the practice and outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information Ensure efficient telephone communication Follow all written protocols and procedures of the practice Work as a team member within the scheduling department and all other departments Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management Accurately and efficiently gathering data and preparing charts for pre-procedural patients and providing support to the preadmissions nursing staff Helping with supply management and ordering of supplies for Perioperative Services Case updates surgical and procedural cases accurately, capturing all clinical data points and personnel and all supplies for accurate billing *Quadrant, Inc. is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
