Job Description


The Quality Lead is a senior member of the quality team, responsible for overseeing and optimizing quality operations. This role requires expertise in all aspects of the quality process, ensuring efficiency, high-quality standards, and effective leadership. In addition to performing the responsibilities of the Quality Technician, the Quality Lead has the capability to lead and fill in for the Quality Manager as necessary, set examples in the quality lab and on the production floor, assist in coaching/mentoring the other quality technicians, help train all new/incoming quality technicians, and complete all Standard Work daily as assigned by the Quality Manager.



Key Responsibilities


The Quality Lead is responsible for fulfilling all duties of the Quality Technician, in addition to the tasks specific to the Lead position. This role not only requires you to acquire the skills necessary to become an invaluable team member but also to mentor and teach these skills to other quality employees as they progress through their training.



Safety & Compliance



  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all Pregis safety procedures and protocols.
  • Adhere to PPE, BRC, and GMP policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protocols.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or food safety concerns.
  • Assist Quality Manager as needed with implementation and auditing of food safety programs.



Work Area Organization & Housekeeping



  • Sweep and organize the work area to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure tools and materials are stored correctly to improve efficiency and prevent damage and contamination.
  • Assist with Quality Lab testing material inventory and notify the Quality Manager when additional inventory is needed.



Quality Assurance & Process Control:



  • Assist with quality control inspections, audits and internal quality investigations as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations as directed by the Quality Manager (pulling/reviewing retain samples, reviewing testing records, reviewing Hold Log records).
  • Provide coaching/training for QC Techs as needed or as additional testing equipment processes are added/changed.
  • Provide initial on-boarding training for all new hires.
  • Review and revise Work Instructions as needed and assist the QC Manager with the creation of Work Instructions for new equipment or new testing processes.
  • Help maintain and revise as necessary the Standard Work document.
  • Assist the QC Manager with ensuring that all testing files and QC logs are properly maintained and completed.



Leadership & Management:



  • Manage and fill in for the QC Manager as needed, providing leadership and direction to the team.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Complete Leader Standard Work as assigned by the QC Manager.

Education and Experience



  • High School Diploma or credentialed equivalent.


  • Experience with quality in a manufacturing environment preferred.



Position Type



  • Full time.
  • Overtime expected per business demand.


Physical Requirements


This position will require a blend of sitting, walking, standing. May require the ability toability to bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 30lbs, and endure elevated temperature levels.
