A logistics company near Long Beach is looking for a Director of Finance to join their team. In this role, the Director of Finance will be responsible for leading a team, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling, partnering with executives, management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs. What do you need for this Director of Finance role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
  • 15+ years of finance experience
  • MUST have logistics (preferred) or distribution industry experience (a significant amount from the past or recently within the last 5 years)
  • People management experience
  • Advanced Excel
What is in this Director of Finance role for you?
  • Guide the FP&A function in shaping budgets, forecasts, and financial models that underpin company-wide initiatives.
  • Work closely with the CFO and senior executives to ensure financial objectives are aligned with broader corporate strategy.
  • Translate financial results into clear recommendations that drive growth, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Direct the company's annual budgeting cycle and recurring forecast updates, ensuring accuracy and consistency with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain dynamic rolling forecasts and perform scenario modeling to support decision-making.
  • Lead multi-year financial planning efforts, factoring in market conditions, competitive dynamics, and strategic projects.
  • Produce recurring management reports that distill financial results into key takeaways and business drivers.
  • Track performance versus plan, highlighting underlying reasons for variances and their implications.
  • Deliver executive-level dashboards and KPI reporting to inform operational and strategic decisions.
  • Partner with department leaders to evaluate investments, optimize spend, and assess ROI.
  • Provide financial analysis in support of pricing, product launches, cost control, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by turning complex financial data into actionable business strategies.
  • Improve FP&A processes, tools, and models to enhance efficiency and precision in reporting.
  • Champion system upgrades and automation initiatives that expand analytics capabilities.
  • Uphold strong governance by ensuring compliance with policies, controls, and accounting standards.
  • Build and manage a high-performing FP&A team, emphasizing professional growth and mentorship.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
