Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Supervisor in our City of Industry, California location. Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Summary: Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for customer-plant liaison, implementation and improvement of statistical methods, quality cost analysis, specification and procedure development, and assisting with plant quality audits. Responsible for overseeing day to day supervision for all hourly Quality Technicians in dept.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Acts as liaison between Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering relative to customer specifications, customer quality requirements, and customer problems.
  • Review customer complaints, analyze returns and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • Assist plants on quality improvement programs.
  • Assist in conducting annual plant audits and systems surveys.
  • Update and augment group Quality Assurance procedures and systems.
  • Assist application Engineering and Sales in development and application problems.
  • Continually strive to improve: testing methods, tooling, and equipment through statistical sampling, that ensure adequate quality in our manufactured product.
  • Work with engineering to develop simple and efficient methods of testing new product lines.
  • Monitor all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations, to ensure that processes are being followed, and short cuts are not being taken, jeopardizing the quality of our product.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.



Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:



  • Highschool Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years work experienced in a Quality Aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 1 year work experiences with supervisor or lead responsibility
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility is required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITRA defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen U.S. Permanent Resident (ie. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution highly desired in Engineering or Metallurgy highly desired



Benefits/Salary:

The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000.
