JOB TITLE & Employer Name: Chemical Engineer, Experienced for Eastman Chemical Company LOCATION: 200 S. Wilcox Dr., Kingsport, TN 37660 JOB DUTIES: Develop methods and strategies to scale up new products and processes from lab to pilot to manufacturing scales. Develop technical expertise in pilot and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve safety, cost position, quality, and/or capacity. Propose and execute production trials and tests on lab, pilot, and manufacturing scales. Utilize design of experiment methodology where applicable. Troubleshoot daily operational issues - interface with operations and maintenance personnel as problems are addressed. Partner with colleagues as part of cross-functional teams including technology, manufacturing, businesses, HSES, and other functions to drive process improvement projects, growth programs, and business initiatives. Provide project leadership and develop lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing trials and experiments. Provide timely communications to management and project stakeholders by communicating project needs, value, priorities, and decisions to ensure project success. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree, or foreign equivalent, in Chemical Engineering or closely related field. Requires three (3) years of experience as a Chemical Engineer, Process Engineer, or closely related occupation in manufacturing process development or process improvement. Experience must include three (3) years of post-bachelors experience in all of the following: 1. Leading formal process safety hazard review process (HAZOP) including solids handling, combustible dust, and pyrophorics. 2. Scaling processes to commercial production including financial analysis. 3. Applying Lean Six-Sigma and 5S concepts to project work in manufacturing environment. 4. Batch process production experience (1,000-5,000 gal) including process improvement, day-to-day management, made-to-order scheduling, operator labor planning, process scale-up,raw material and product inventory management, and SOPs. 5. Leading capital projects (>$1M). Certification Required: Green Belt certification in Six Sigma.
