Manager, Enterprise Strategy

Overview

Lead the Enterprise Strategy team in developing, promoting and managing the enterprise strategic planning framework and processes. Drive strategy development throughout Navy Federal and develop and monitor progress toward enterprise objectives and goals. Work with the Enterprise Project Management Office, ISD and other business units across Navy Federal to prioritize and coordinate execution of strategic initiatives. Establish and report on key success measures aligned with the Enterprise Strategy. Elevate strategic management as a discipline at Navy Federal via a "center-of-excellence" model. Coordinate competitive intelligence activities throughout the enterprise by developing a participatory network of subject matter experts. Support partners in the Member Strategy Office to implement segment strategies. Interface with Front Office, senior management and the Board of Directors as required.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain the enterprise strategic framework and processes
  • Provide consultation, collaboration and assistance to departments to align business strategy with enterprise goals
  • Serve as subject matter expert regarding enterprise strategy functions, policies and/or procedures
  • Work with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, Information Services Department and other key delivery areas on prioritization of work that aligns with enterprise goals
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization on environmental scans, economic analysis and other competitive intelligence efforts
  • Oversee the analysis of competitor and market trends; evaluate findings and data to determine action necessary to drive improvements
  • Develop a team of industry experts who are knowledgeable in the competitive landscape and can incorporate key aspects of the external landscape into strategies and plans
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge, and business processes to other business units
  • Provide forward thinking expertise in current and emerging trends, technologies, and practices
  • Research, monitor, and analyze competitor and market actions and synthesize trends and actionable insights
  • Oversee benchmarking and trend analysis to drive continuous process improvement, increase member experience quality, and maintain high operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and other reporting tools to consistently measure and report on performance against enterprise goals
  • Elevate strategic management as a discipline at Navy Federal via a "center-of-excellence" model. Support partners in the Member Strategy Office to implement segment strategies
  • Develop and/or present necessary reports/updates for Board of Directors, CEO and other senior management
  • Lead Enterprise Strategy team via coaching, performance management and other core leadership activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of industry-standard strategic frameworks
  • Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Extensive experience interpreting, understanding and analyzing performance measures
  • Expert knowledge of project management frameworks, development lifecycles and related processes
  • Working knowledge of credit union operations/processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of business strategies, business models, Lean principles, Six Sigma and statistics
  • Significant experience leading/directing others in developing & implementing strategic & operational plans
  • Expert skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions
  • Expert skill using innovative thinking to solve problems and facilitate the decision-making process
  • Expert skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of technical decisions and issues
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skill communicating with all levels within an organization
  • Advanced skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulations
  • Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
  • Advanced analytical thinking skills to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results or relationships
  • Advanced skill influencing and guiding strategic thinking
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • Working knowledge of development or operations framework methodologies, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), etc.
  • Specific knowledge of Navy Federal Operations and related policies, procedures, products and services
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives
  • Experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations.
  • Experience working as a management consultant at major consulting firm or an internal strategy consultant at a large financial institution* Advanced knowledge of change management principles and practices
