About the Job

The Minnesota Tic and Compulsivity (MnTiC) Laboratory at the University of Minnesota Medical School is seeking a part-time (25%) Research Professional 6. The lab is led by principal investigators Dr. Christine Conelea and Dr. Brianna Wellen and conducts research investigating the etiology, maintenance, and treatment Tourette Syndrome/tic disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Our research spans development (childhood through early adulthood) and methodologies. The MnTiC Lab is a vibrant group of scientists, research coordinators, and students, and we have strong collaborative relationships with colleagues across the UMN system, including faculty with expertise in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, pediatrics, and childhood development. This position will be funded at 25% FTE for approximately 18 months.

The MnTiC Lab is part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The Department of Psychiatry has well-established training programs, including a NIDA-funded T32 fellowship program, APA accredited clinical psychology internship, adult psychiatry residency, six psychiatry fellowships, and clinical and research practica for psychology graduate students and medical students.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- The Research Professional 6 will provide advanced expertise and be responsible for independently leading all aspects of human research studies from protocol development through close-out and collaborate with team members to achieve complex study objectives within applicable regulations, practices, and University policies. These duties include serving as a PI on independently designed research studies and the
responsibilities that encompasses, as defined by the University Institutional Review Board.

- Design new research studies, manage participant recruitment and enrollment, design and implement complex data collection procedures with participants, manage research data, analyze data, report results, and ensure completion of relevant regulatory documentation.

- The Research Professional 6 will collaborate with other lab PI leaders and the lab manager. They may be assigned commensurate responsibilities for other research studies in the lab and assist lab PI leaders as needed (e.g., for coverage or back-up support for
clinical research oversight and management tasks).

- The Research Professional 6 will be responsible for independently initiating and leading the preparation and submission of research products, such as peer-reviewed publications and funding proposals. Additionally, they will contribute to lab-wide research and
community engagement efforts, such as co-authoring paper manuscripts, and they will independently organize and lead community-facing outreach and dissemination activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree plus at least eight years of relevant experience OR PhD in clinical psychology plus at least six years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience conducting clinical research focused on Tourette Syndrome and related
disorders.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical and research experience working with individuals who have tic disorders/Tourette Syndrome and experience delivering clinical assessments and cognitive-behavioral interventions with this patient population.
- Clinical licensure in Minnesota.
- Preference also given to candidates with a demonstrated track record of independent research funding and authorship on research products related to these disorders.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: Salary is $16,216/annualized (or $1,351.33 per month) as position is 25% FTE for 18 months, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
